The new IPod Nano from Apple (Michelle Lapid)
The new IPod Nano from Apple has recently gotten some new upgrades from prior generations. Starting at 8gb for about $148, this IPod lets its users record video conveniently with its built in camera, has a new tuner for the radio, records the number of steps taken with a new pedometer, and lets individuals become their own DJ’s with the help of iTunes. This sleek, ultra portable music player, with new vibrant colors, let’s people enjoy their music on the go and also lets people take videos of what they want to share with other people. The IPod Nano can be bought directly from Apple’s website, their retail store, or where other fine electronics are sold.
The Apple company, which originally started up in California, has revolutionized how technology is being perceived and manufactured today.

Apple specializes in laptops, computers, software, the line of IPods and recently, the IPhone. In a generation where technology has taken precedence, Apple continues to manufacture different types of products in order to supply its consumers with the very best. Apple has continued to grow and develop to become a very strong company, compared to their modest start.

The reason why I choose this product is because having an IPod has become a necessity for everyone—walking around campus, I see the signature white headphones and a plethora of different color iPods in the hands of many students. It is interesting to observe people with their IPod’s and seeing them bob their heads to a particular song and even doing a little two step if the mood is right. Portable music has come a long way from where it first began; the invention of the radio, to the boom box, to the walkman, to the cd player and now to the mp3 players. IPod’s have become a staple— it’s the new fashion accessory that everyone must have. I believe that some people might be interested in this product because music has become a big part of our lives. Music seems to have a big impact in our moods and who we socialize with—a simple set of lyrics can bring us up on a bad day, remember an old flame, get us in the mood for dancing, etc. By having a music player that is portable and that offers more for its consumers to do, people will be spending lots of money to have their music with them. What I also want to look at, particularly with the advancement of this technology, is how solely we have become dependent on it. Enjoying music back in the day meant attending more concerts, buying albums, and having a stronger connection with the artists and the music. Now, with the advancement of the IPod’s many people are able to enjoy their music simply on their mp3 player without leaving their home. I wonder if people stop to think about if their reality is heavily dominated by technology and rarely any interaction with people. I believe that we as a society are suffering from a digital dilemma—that human interactions, with real people are being replaced with technology.

  1. I agree with you that it seems that our generation and the world today seems to be less and less about actual human interaction. We see this with texting, twitter, and facebook; people no longer need to pick up the phone or even have physical human interaction because you can keep up with a persons daily routine with twitter updates. It is interesting to look at the technology today, especially with itunes. Every time I "log on" to my itunes, there is a new update needed! is this because we truly need this update or is it because corporations feel the need to constantly create new and improved products so that we are constinaly fighting to get to the newest trend?
